Frequently asked questions

What does Ildireta Culture and Heritage Foundation do?
We preserve indigenous culture while empowering communities through traditional arts, women’s economic initiatives, child protection, FGM awareness, and community development projects.
Where do you operate?
Our foundation is based in Kajiado, Kenya, but our programs reach across Maasai communities and beyond, with collaborations at both local and national levels.
How do you support women and youth?
We train women and youth in beadwork, leatherwork, farming, and entrepreneurship, while also connecting them to markets and cooperatives that promote financial independence.
What role do cultural dances play in your work?
Cultural dances are not only a way to preserve Maasai heritage but also a platform for youth training, cultural tourism, and income generation for the community.
How does Ildireta fight against FGM?
We use education, community dialogues, and alternative rites of passage to raise awareness, protect girls, and encourage cultural practices that are safe and dignified.
Is Ildireta a registered organization?
Yes. We are officially registered under the Registrar of Societies in Kenya, recognized as a non-political, community-based foundation.
